I decided to try to port the windows fan control util into linux in the form of a kernel module. Fan Control is a highly focused fan controlling software for Windows No installation required. However, i'm not a fan of windows and have my laptop setup to dual boot into Arch and have all of my development stuff setup just the way I like it. This is the release repository for Fan Control, a focused and highly customizable fan controlling software for Windows. LHM is usually more up-to-date, so if you're able to do it there, all you'd have to do is copy the LibreHardwareMonitorLib.dll from the LHM folder and drop it in the FanControl folder and everything should work. This works really well and keeps the laptop from overheating and shutting down. Yup :) that's how FanControl reads sensors and controls fan speeds. So I have an Acer 7551g, and i'm using this utlity for windows to control the fan speed because acer sucks. Choose whether switching the Legion Power Mode will also switch the corresponding Windows Power Plans if it exists.
